My parents live in Idaho and we travel from our home in Utah to visit several times a
year. We have started a tradition associated with these trips which is also a great way to
break up the trip. We stop at a little truck stop/diner, which is at about the half way
point of the trip. It is called "Flags West". The diner has some cute
photocopied childrens menus that the kids can color. On the menu is the old standby
"Mickey Mouse Pancakes", which are our younger childrens favorite item. So
we all order breakfast no matter what time of day it is, and have a nice break from the
road. The kids look forward to the break and so we always ask at the beginning of the
trip, rhetorically, of course, whod like to stop for Mickey Mouse Pancakes? The
response is always overwhelmingly affirmative.
