tradition (tra`di•cn) n. The body of customs, thought, practices, etc., belonging to a particular family, and handed down from generation to generation, especially by word of mouth, over a relatively long period.

Bernadine Sevy

I love Christmas! I can’t stand it when it is done and so I immediately start planning and collecting for the next one, which because Christmas is so close to the beginning of the next year is always "this year". So I came up with a way to celebrate Christmas and feel that wonderful Christmas spirit all year long.

On the 25th of every month we find a way to celebrate Christmas in our home. Right after Christmas, in January, February and March we will listen to the Christmas music that we have had a hard time putting away. Closer to the middle of the year, when the aching for that Christmas spirit gets worse, our celebrations get more involved. Along with playing Christmas music, we will make cards, take a photo for the card, burn Christmas scented candles, or spices of the stove, bake cookies for a neighbor, make ornaments, work on Christmas gifts, read stories with a Christmas theme or sing carols.

I love the feelings of Christmas, people accept and give graciously and generously and everyone is joyful and kind. I wanted my family to know that we could have those feelings year round and the feelings we remember on the 25th flow over into the rest of the month.
