Parents Talk
http://www.parents-talk.com/
Parents Talk is a great community for parents of any
age. Their tag line, "because your always a parent" is reflected
in the site. The content comes from experts and peers. The site provides a
forum for parents to brag about the funny things their kid did, and to ask
each other for help with a teenage daughter. There is a great collection
of parent contributed recipes, crafts and fun things for families to do
together. They also have a great on-line games page that offers fun
interactive games for the whole family. Be careful, if you get sucked in
by Hanoi Towers you may be on-line for a while. The site also encourages
visitors to submit cute family photos and the site is happily decorated by
them. If you are a parent or grand parent you will really enjoy Parents
Talk.

Internet Safety for Kids and Parents
http://www.safekids.com/
If you have children and you have a computer
connected to the Internet you need to go to www.saferkids.com,
do not pass go, go directly to saferkids.com. This site is a comprehensive
look at how parents can keep their kids safe while surfing the Internet.
It explains the rules that kids and parents should follow as well as the
risks involved. Parents should read the articles, and look at the
resources that are provided here. I was impressed with the "Family
Contract for On-line Safety". I will be sitting down with my children
to sign this agreement. There is also an on-line Safety Slide Show as well
as a comparison table of Parental Control software. You will also find a
link provided for reporting On-line Crimes Against Children. The Internet
is a wonderful and valuable tool for Families and Saferkids.com helps to
make it more valuable by teaching parents and children how to safely take
advantage of it.

The Mommy Times
http://www.mommytimes.com
The Mommy Times is "Dedicated to preserving the
sanity of Moms everywhere". It is an on-line version of a traditional
newsletter of the same name. They bill themselves as a Mom to Mom support
club, and the support is there. There are great articles on everything you
could imagine, from herbal stress remedies, to tips on teaching your
children values and rallying their help in the kitchen. Trish Kasey, the
founder and editor, started the newsletter in 1992 when she realized the
value of a Mom to Mom support group while asking advice of her Mom
friends. Because of the quality of the information available in the
September ‘99 issue, I found myself wanting to be able to search an
archive of past issues, but none was apparent to me. This site is worth a
monthly visit for any Parent looking for advice on raising children and
staying sane.

The Family Connection
http://www.thefamily.com
The Family Connection is a wonderful collection of
useful information for the family. The site features the opinions and
parenting suggestions of Alan Osmond (of the singing group "the
Osmonds") and his wife Suzanne, who are the parents of 8 boys. The
site has something for everyone in the family, with sections on parenting,
recipes, genealogy, scrapbooking, family preparation and health, with
articles by Dr. Beth Milligan. The site also has a section for the
military family, seniors and a fun page called the "Kid’s Korner".
There are discussion forums where you can read and post your ideas,
opinions and funny stories about family life and scheduled Family Chat
sessions. If you enjoy crafts, you will enjoy the country cottage, where
you will find links to craft patterns, country graphics and other fun. The
Family Connection has a little something for everyone in the family.

Values Parenting
http://www.valuesparenting.com
Values Parenting is dedicated helping parents teach
their children basic values. This web site, based on the philosophy and
writing of best selling authors Richard and Linda Eyre, is designed to
inform caring parents about the books, programs and organizations the Eyre’s
have created. The Eyre’s are the first authors in 50 years to hit #1 on
the New York Times national best seller list with a parenting book, "Teaching
Your Children Values". They have been featured on Oprah and many
other national talk shows. Their programs were created in order to help make
this world a better place by giving parents helpful tools to raise
responsible, happy children who in turn will grow up to raise responsible,
happy children and so on and so on. In addition to the information about the
products that are available at the site, there is a parenting discussion
area and free weekly parenting tips including an archive. The value of these
tips makes it worth a visit. If you are looking for ways to teach your
children values, responsibility and joy check out ValuesParenting.com.

The Family Corner
http://www.thefamilycorner.com
The Family Corner should consider changing it’s name to the Family
Warehouse! This is because of the amount of information it offers. It is a
comprehensive site with just about anything you can think of surrounding
family life. They have departments focused on Parenting, Family time,
Recipes, Home and Garden, a department especially for Moms called "Just
for You", as well as Message Boards and E-Zines to subscribe to.
Considering the amount of information available here the site is very easy
to navigate. It has a clean, crisp look and is pleasant to view. One of the
most valuable features I found was the links page. It is nicely organized
and I was able to easily drill down to sites that I was interested in. The
Family Corner is a great family site that will be around for a long time and
will continue to grow in value.

ParentingPlace.com -- An Internet Home For
Parents
http://www.parentingplace.com
If youre a parent, of any kind, a mother of multiples, a stay
at home mom, a working mother, an expectant parent, a student mom, an armed forces spouse,
etc. -- ParentingPlace.com will have something to benefit you and your efforts to be a
better parent. They offer a monthly newsletter, parenting links, parenting Q&A,
reviews, discussion boards, chat rooms as well as a section for parenting issues and well
written, pertinent features on everything from bedtime, nursing and potty training to
vacations. The site has a nice clean layout and navigation to the valuable features is
readily apparent. ParentingPlace.com is called a "Home For Parents" because the
creators of the site wanted to build a place for parents to feel comfortable asking
"silly" questions that everyone ought to know the answer to. Although kids
dont come with an owners manual this site is a good place to start. So when
you are seriously wondering if your 3 year old sons future wife will have to potty
train him, go to ParentingPlace.com and find out if that is an option.

The "M" Word, Parenting Humor Magazine
http://www.the-m-word.com
When your sanity is stretched to the limits and youre
having one of those "take me away" moments, do a reality check on the normalcy
of your life with your family by going to "The "M" Word, Parenting Humor
Magazine". The site looks good and is easy to navigate and there is a virtual
cornucopia of funny stories, essays and articles that most parents will be able to relate
to. My thoughts, as I clicked around the site, were "Were not alone!" The
site is updated monthly and you can easily access past issues by following the back issues
link. There are links to contests, games, movie reviews, book reviews, recipes, parenting
links, and a great page called "Wacky Uses" where you find weird ways to use
things around the house like conditioning your hair with Miracle Whip. So the next time
you realize that you need to relax, head to "The "M" Word".

Families Worldwide
http://www.fww.org/
Are you looking for ways to strengthen your family?
"Families Worldwide is a non-profit, non-denominational organization operating for
the purpose of strengthening families." Their web site is a valuable resource for
families that are looking for ideas to help their own family be closer and stronger. It is
also a great place to find information that can help society in general. It is stated in
the organizations mission statement that, "The family is society's first and
most important institution; the seedbed of commitment, love, character, and social, as
well as personal, responsibility upon which individuals rely for their own and their
society's success and well-being." The site provides links to Family news articles,
scholarly articles and research, the Families Worldwide Newsletter, Family Links, and an
important link to
"The Call" which is to a page requesting people who care about families to get
involved with the Families Worldwide Organization and to help further their pro-family
agenda throughout the world. This is a valuable site to individual families as well as the
collective "Family" we all belong to.

Focus on the Family with Dr. James Dobson
http://www.family.org/
If you have a family and have never heard of
"Focus on the Family" or Dr. James Dobson, you owe it to yourself to checkout
this site. Dr. Dobson has been on the radio for years dispensing great wisdom and insight
on the family and how to have a successful family life. This site is a window on to the
many and diverse efforts which the "Focus on the Family" organization is
involved in. All of these efforts are about educating and entertaining parents and
children. I have always enjoyed their radio show, "Adventures in Odyssey" and
they have a link to listen to the show via Real Audio. This site is also the doorway to
many valuable "communities" such as "Parents Place", "Life
on the Edge", "Women Only" and "Citizen Link". These communities
provide many helpful articles and links to other resources for those looking for new ideas
on managing family life in this day and age.
