"Farm Journal"

I began a farm journal. I was going nuts trying to find births and deaths of animals for registration and information. So I took a little book and started to write it down. With 12 goats Who gave birth to who and which died and lived can get confusing. It is so convenient to have one journal to look at for that kind of information. I still include this in my personal journal and gratitude journal but now when I need dates in a hurry, they are easier to find.

Other things I plan on including is vet advice on different diseases. I bought a couple of foals once that had been rescued from an estrogen farm, they were covered in lice and had terrible pneumonia. The vets advice was helpful a few years later when I bought two lice infested, mangy looking Shetland ponies that needed TLC. A friend’s advice should probably also be recorded, "you can’t save every creature" - but I can try!!! I will also include things that we discover, about the behavior of our animals, when the farrier comes, when they get their shots and are wormed.

I have always felt that one of the purposes of a journal was to help me perceive whether I am making progress, or not. I hope that the farm journal will not only allow us to see that we are making progress, but that it will facilitate progress by acting a reference material for the next time we find a creature to save!
