In Praise of Stay-at-Home Moms PDF Print E-mail

A relative asked me if I had a college degree. I replied,"yes, in  Early Childhood Development." That family member said, "Well, you never used it did you." With full conviction and confidence I replied, "Every Day"!!

I have used this knowledge from child birth to grandchildren. I have raised 5 preschoolers!  It has helped me get creative ideas for school projects, teaching Sunday School, and  even getting grandchildren to pick up toys. I taught music lessons to preschoolers to adults.  This degree has definitetly been put to good use. I am now married to a man with 9 children, collectively we have 14 children, 4 in-laws, 4 grandchildren, but only 8 boys and 1 girl at home! Yes, to that relative, I have used my degree and much to the benefit of my family.

After working in a day care and getting an on the job degree in Early Childhood Development  I knew for a certantly that I would never put my child in a day care.

Dr. Laura's book, "In Praise of Stay at Home Mothers" has increased my confidence in being a stay at home mom. It reminded me to:

  1. Not let the naysayers upset me and make me feel less valuable to society because of my choice to be a stay-at-home mom
  2. To see the benefits of being home, not only for my children, but also for my husband
  3. To understand that you don't have to be happy and love your life every second, even when your doing the right thing
  4. To realize that the sacrifices you make now will create lasting bonds and a stronger family, a stronger community, and ultimately a stronger world.

This book gave me support, advice, inspiration, and a greater appreciation of my husband. I am so impressed with this book that I am making sure that each of the mothers of all my grandchildren will have one!

To even get a more understanding of the book , take a look at what the inside flap on the cover of the book says:

"They number in the millions and they are incredibly important to families and to our society, yet they are unerappreciated, little respected, and even controversial."

Who are they? They are the Stay-at-home moms.

These are women who know in their hearts that staying home to raise their children is the right choice for the whole family. Some do it from the outset of their marriages, while others make the difficult transition from career-driven women to homemakers. Either way, it is a choice that offers incredibly rich rewards, not to mention challenges that help us grow.

Dr. Larua, building on principles developed during her long career as a licensed marriage and family therapist, provides a wealth of advice and support, as well as compassion and inspiration, to women as they navigate the wonders and struggles of being a stay-at-home mom.

This book can help Stay-At-Home-Mothers learn how to:

  • .Hold your head high and deal with naysayers
  • .See the beniefits of being at home, not only for your children but also for your marriage:
  • .Understand the changes you have to face
  • Realize that the sacrifices you make now will create lasting bonds  that will strengthen your family, in addition to creating a more cohesive community.

In Praises of Stay-at-Home Moms is a special book, that offers a profound and unique understanding of how important it is for mothers to raise their own children."
