Our Road to Financial Freedom

My wife and I are together because of her efforts to build a in-home business. I've often joked with her about the extent to which she went to get me to be a part of that effort, namely, marrying me.

The Newest Daddy

So . . . I'm approaching 30 years of age. Here in about two months I will bid a farewell to my twenties. Age for a man is supposed to be less of a big deal, but I kind of frittered away this decade, you see. Only in the last half did I practice anything near common sense. I started dating again at 26, went back to school at 27, got married at 28, and had my first child at 29. Eventful years, wouldn't you say?

The Mommy Machine

I'll come right out and say it. I am amazed at the tenacity, strength, character, resilience, compassion, unconditional love, and energy in the face of sheer exhaustion that my wife has shown these past five and a half weeks. This little bundle of love we call Frederick is a heavy drain on his daddy. Having grown up in a home where for one brief instant there was a baby girl, I am unfamiliar with the newborn creature.

Jim laughed and gave me a loving squeeze and my response to that was,"I want my mommy"

Your Childhood May Haunt you or Hale you
I went to the high school to get some papers signed by the counselor. My son just had surgery and was unable to attend. My son sent me to a specific counselor that he felt comfortable with.  As I visited with the counselor we realized that we grew up in  the same little town. I asked him if he knew my father. He had quite a story.

Reality Garbage . . . I mean, TV

My wife likes to watch horrible people. She thinks they are just hilarious.

What horrible people? Hitler? Stalin? Xerxes? No. The Real Housewives of New Jersey, the brats on NYC Prep, the self-possessed people in nearly every single reality series, the fiasco that has become Jon and Kate plus Eight, etc. etc. etc.

Parenting for a Better World

A few years ago I was speaking to a friend who had just had a vasectomy. I asked him why he took such a drastic measure and he indicated that, “He just couldn’t bring another child into this world, it's just a horrible place.”

Our Music Life 8 Years Later

It is fun to imagine what life will be like in the next 8 years. To set goals, to predict and to dream. It is very interesting to read something that I wrote 8 years ago on music and practicing with children.
